1. Purpose
NJMRYS is committed to ensuring transparency, integrity, and trust in the publication process. All participants in the publication process—authors, reviewers, editors, and editorial board members—must disclose any potential conflicts of interest.
2. Definition of Conflict of Interest
A conflict of interest exists when professional judgment concerning a primary interest (such as research integrity) may be influenced by a secondary interest.
Conflicts may be:
Financial (grants, funding, employment, honoraria, patents, stock ownership)
Personal (relationships, family, or close associations)
Academic (competitive research, collaborations, institutional affiliations)
Intellectual or ideological (strong beliefs that may affect objectivity)
3. Author Responsibilities
Authors must:
Disclose all financial and non-financial conflicts of interest at the time of submission
Declare sources of funding and institutional support
Clearly state if no conflict of interest exists
A Conflict of Interest Declaration Statement is mandatory for all submissions.
Example statements:
“The authors declare no conflict of interest.”
“Author A received research funding from XYZ organization.”
4. Reviewer Responsibilities
Reviewers must:
Declare any potential conflict of interest before accepting a manuscript
Decline review if a conflict exists
Maintain confidentiality of manuscript content
If a conflict is identified, the manuscript will be assigned to an alternate reviewer.
5. Editorial Responsibilities
Editors and editorial board members must:
Recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where conflicts exist
Ensure unbiased and fair editorial decisions
Maintain confidentiality and ethical oversight
6. Management of Conflicts
Disclosed conflicts are reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief
Conflicts do not automatically lead to rejection but are evaluated for potential bias
If undisclosed conflicts are discovered later, NJMRYS may take corrective action
7. Post-Publication Disclosure
If a conflict of interest is identified after publication, NJMRYS may:
Publish a correction or disclosure notice
Retract the article in cases of serious ethical breach
Notify relevant institutions or indexing bodies
8. Ethical Standards
NJMRYS follows:
COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines
ICMR publication ethics
International best practices in scholarly publishing
9. Policy Updates
This policy is subject to periodic revision to reflect evolving ethical standards. Updates will be posted on the journal website.
